All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naïve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: that I am nobody but myself

I’ve seen this photo going around on Facebook and just wanted to share my thoughts on it.

Every time I see this photo, it always has a caption that basically asks “Which add is better? Which group of women are more real, or more beautiful?”

Every single woman in both of these photos is beautiful.

Neither campaign is better than the other. Yes, the Dove campaign is slightly more diverse but it’s still not diverse enough.

All women are real women. There is no size, shape, or colour that makes a woman “fake”. The models for VS are not fake. Sure, they are probebly air brushed but they are underwear models. It comes with the territory. I imagine the Dove add is slightly airbrushed as well. Those models work hard to look the way they do. And some women are naturaly that small and lean. This does not make them “fake.

The women in the bottom picture are more representative of the “average” woman, but that does not mean the photo represents all women. In order for it to come close to doing so, there would need to be more women who are much much smaller, and much much bigger in the photo.

I’m just sick of seeing women try to glorify one body type by bashing another. It’s not okay. Us women need to stick together and help each other. We need to spread the word that all women are beautiful. That no body type is better than another.

Yes, some people may be attracted to one more than another, but that does not mean that said body type is “better”.

We need to work together to put an end to body shaming and promote self acceptance for all shapes and sizes.

So if you agrree with me, please reblog and spread the word.

Body shaming is never okay and all women are real women.

It’s simple as that.
